Things to do after your next Gaylord Provisioning center visit

Depending on the season, there is always something to do in Gaylord and northern Michigan in general. Whether you’re looking to shop from local businesses or enjoy communing with nature, there is no shortage of attractions here. Check out one of the following attractions to make the most of your next Gaylord dispensary visit.

1. Play 18 holes in the Midwest’s “golf Mecca”

Gaylord is home to several award-winning golf courses and is considered the golf Mecca of the Midwest. Gaylord offers more than 17 golf courses and 21 lodging facilities with a beautiful, rustic backdrop. One such place is nationally-acclaimed Treetops Resorts, featuring 81 holes across five professionally designed courses by names such as Tom Fazio, Rick Smith, and Robert Trent Jones Sr.

The Lakes course is another local favorite among all levels of players, offering six links-style holes set amid a breathtaking natural backdrop.

2. Enjoy skiing through a winter wonderland

There’s no need to fret when the snow starts flying because those very same golf resorts turn into winter playlands where there’s plenty of skiing, snow tubing, and snowboarding day and night. Local favorite ski resorts include Ostego, Treetops, and Tyrolean.

3. Explore downtown Gaylord

Gaylord is known for its small-town environment and has an accommodating downtown that can easily be walked from any parking spot. A plethora of unique restaurants wait for you, as well as mom-and-pop shops that carry everything from sporting goods to homemade desserts and candies. Check out all our favorites from the list below:

  • Old Spud Warehouse: Established in 1997, Old Spud Warehouse is a locally loved boutique offering out-of-the-ordinary products from home decor to accessories.
  • The Rusty Pelican: An independently owned wine shop offering an extensive bottle selection of handcrafted wine, foods, and beverages.
  • Gaylord Area Council For Arts: A dedicated community arts organization operating an art center in downtown Gaylord, the Area Council For Arts promotes creativity through various events and happenings.
  • Call of the Wild Museum:  This family-run museum features a variety of North American wildlife, a theater, and a gift shop.
  • The Iron Pig Smokehouse: This downtown Gaylord restaurant and bar serves BBQ, burgers, tacos & comfort-food sides.
  • Claude Shannon Park: Downtown Gaylord is home to a small park honoring Claude Shannon, a mathematical engineer known as the “father of information theory.”
  • Escape The Cabin: Perfect for post-dispensary fun in downtown Gaylord is Escape The Cabin, a fast-paced escape game set in a jailhouse.
  • Gaylord Bowling Center: Stop by the Gaylord Bowling Center to see if you can roll a perfect 300 after your next trip to Iconic.

4. Visit the lakes

The outlying area of Gaylord also offers several activities, regardless of the season. If you’re visiting the Gaylord provisioning center during the summer, you should check out one of the multitudes of lakes, where most locals of Gaylord can be found hanging out, enjoying the northern Michigan sunshine, and even catching some fish. In the winter, we head back to those same lakes for ice fishing — will you pull that next record-breaking fish through the ice? Some of the most popular lakes in the Gaylord area include Ostego Lake, O’Rourke Lake, and Lake Manuka.

5. Deadman’s Hill Park

Deadman’s Hill park on the west side of town is one of the most beautiful places to visit after your trip to Iconic’s Gaylord dispensary. A beautiful park with a tragic backstory, Deadman’s Hill is something of a memorial to a young logger named Stanley Graczyk, who was killed on his wedding day by an out-of-control timber cart. Despite the tragedy, this beautiful park pays homage to Graczyk, known to friends as Big Sam, and overlooks the Jordan River Valley and offers miles of trails to hike through the wilderness. Deadman’s Hill has also been a popular sledding destination since before ever becoming an officially named park.

Don’t just take our word for it. Hear why our customers think we’re Iconic.

I’ve been about all over the southwestern area for my “bud hubs” but by far Iconic has a larger supply of variety, the prices that I’m aware of are the best within 100 miles. And the customer service is beyond phenomenal… This place has all you will need.

Shane K.

The budtenders were very friendly and knowledgeable! They had a very good selection and the place just has a good vibe. I recommend Iconic to anyone and I’ll definitely be back!
